What does mixed media mean to you?
Mixed media means freedom. There is no limit to what you can incorporate into your art—paper, fabric and organic material are all fair game.
How long have you been a mixed media artist?
For the last eight years I have been creating mixed media art.
How has art impacted or enhanced your life?
I find that when I don’t sit down and make something, I start to feel anxious and a somewhat incomplete. Art has helped me process emotions, work through different life events and make my environment more beautiful.
What are a few of the mixed media supplies you find yourself turning to the most?
Paper, acrylic paint, gesso and matte medium. My new favorite supply is clear tar gel!
Who are some of your favorite mixed media artists?
Tell us about your creative process.
My process depends on my day and my frame of mind. Some days I have a plan but most I don’t. Sometimes I look through my inspiration file and sometimes I just start with a color. Then I just keep working on the piece until I either really hate it and start over or it speaks to me.
What makes your mixed-media art unique?
Unique is such a strong word and I am not sure that there is such a thing. But, if my art is unique at all it is because I try to express my life experience.
