~*~ Mixed Media May ~*~ Patsy Paterno ~*~

What does mixed media mean to you?
Mixed media means freedom to experiment with an unlimited range of materials!

How long have you been a mixed media artist?
Since 2006 when I started my faith journal. I used collage most of the time because I was not confident about my drawing skills.

How has art impacted or enhanced your life?
I can say that it impacts my life every single day because I start my day in my craft room. I wake up anywhere from 3 am to 4:30 am. I pray, read the bible and then I paint a bible verse so that I can take it with me the whole day.

What are a few of the mixed media supplies you find yourself turning to the most?
Acrylics, rubber stamps, pastel pencils, book paper, gesso, crochet thread, buttons…

i am peace

Who are some of your favorite mixed media artists?

Oh dear! I could go on and on and on…..

Tell us about your creative process.
I use wall putty or gesso to create some texture on book paper. Then I use acrylic paints, sponges, hand carved stamps, bottle caps, etc to make interesting backgrounds. I think if you have a wonderful background, then the art is more vibrant. Then I draw on the background and paint over it. I like the background to show through, it makes it more complex. I also enjoy stitching over it sometimes. If I don’t have much time, if I’m in a hurry, or lazy, I also like to trace faces, bodies, hands, and then paint it. I think tracing hones our muscle memory for drawing! I took 2 years to practice drawing hands. Now I am practicing drawing birds. I’ve improved a lot! I remember when my niece thought my drawing of a bird was a fish!!!

What makes your mixed-media art unique?
Most of my art comes from a desire to embed Scripture in my heart. That was the beginning, and then it evolved into a partnership with the Creator where I saw that He wanted me to bless others with it.

DSC04686 -- Patsy My full name is Patricia Joy Paterno, and I’ve been married for 20 years to a man with a good heart. His name is Luigi, and he is an IT Consultant. We have one son, Josh, who is as funny as his dad. I have been working in our family business, papemelroti, since I was 11. When I get home from work, I stay in my craft room and paint, make scrapbook layouts, ATCs, and think of ways to re-use things normal people would throw away. I like sharing my joy and have paint parties for my friends!
Patsy is donating a signed print on archival paper.  Beloved 2

  5. I go to see every day a few websites and sites to read content, however this web
    site presents feature based content.

  6. Then you still have a chemical dependency on the brains neurochemicals, if you only have a hard time with just self
    pleasure obsession.
